Maxine Campbell

Campbell, B. Maxine 1920 - 2014 A resident of Albuquerque for the past 22 years, Maxine Campbell, 93, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. She had spent almost 52 years in Lancaster,Ohio, before moving to New Mexico with her daughter Carolyn's family. The active swimmer, hiker, potter, gardener, naturalist, book club member, and amateur photographer spent her last peaceful days at the Sandra Green House following a recent illness. Maxine was born in Delaware, Oklahoma, in 1920. She lived with her parents, Robert and Lucille (Meyers) Davis, in Nowata, OK during the Depression, and then in Illinois and Missouri. They eventually settled in Ohio where she graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1938 and attended OSU Business College for 2 years. During WWII, she was active in the Red Cross and later helped Curtis Wright build the P-40s and other fighter planes more efficiently in Columbus, Ohio. During the Vietnam War she was a senior buyer in the Army's Defense Construction Supply Center until her retirement in the late 1970s. She is survived by her three children: Michael D. Campbell (and wife Mary), a geologist in Houston, TX; Stephen E. Campbell (and wife Lynn), a broadcast journalist, inventor and businessman residing in Lancaster, OH; and Carolyn S. Martin, (wife of the late Dr. Daniel Martin), Surgical Nurse Manager residing in Albuquerque, NM; nine grandchildren: M. David Campbell, a geologist and marine naturalist of San Diego, CA; Michellee Campbell, a broadcaster in NYC; Julianne Campbell, a teacher in Encinitas, CA; Dr. David Hodge, a radiologist in Hollywood, FL; Jared Collins, a policeman in Lancaster, OH; Jennifer Campbell, an artist and teacher in NYC; Jessica Bludau, an archaeologist in Houston, TX; Lt. Joshua Martin, a helicopter pilot based in Ft. Campbell, KY; and Caitlyn Martin, a student at the University of Texas, in Austin; three great grandchildren: Jessica Evans of Lancaster, OH; Logan Michael Sabado of Santa Barbara, CA; and Charles Henry Bludau of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Edward Campbell of Lancaster, Ohio, and two siblings, Carolyn Borland and Robert Davis, both of Columbus, Ohio. Maxine, an avid Ohio State University Buckeye fan, was an inspiration to many and refused to let her advancing age interfere with her activities. She will be fondly remembered and loved by many in Albuquerque and in Lancaster, Ohio. Her love of fun and family will endure. She will be interred near Lancaster, Ohio in a gravesite ceremony in the Spring. A 4:00 PM memorial service will be conducted Monday, March 10, 2014, by Dr. Michelle Tatlock at Monte Vista Christian Church at 3501 Campus Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, 87106.
