Maxine Louise Thoele

Thoele, Maxine Louise 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at home in Socorro, NM surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Reeds, MO on August 22, 1923 to Roy M. and Frances L. (McCollum) Alumbaugh. She and her four siblings were raised in a very loving and religious home in the midwest. She graduated from high school in 1941 and attended business college in her hometown of Carthage. She married Joe Thoele in 1959 and they moved to Socorro in 1963. Maxine was a secretary for the Socorro public schools for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge, working crosswords and loved to garden. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Pilot Club. She taught shorthand and typing at New Mexico Tech and she taught religious classes at San Miguel for many years. Maxine was a very loving and trusting person and very strong in her faith. She loved to read and got great joy from reading to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Joseph Thoele; her brothers, Ariel, Estel and J.D. Alumbaugh; son-in-law, Frankie Naranjo, and grandson, Francisco Naranjo Jr. Maxine is survived by her loving daughter, Penny Naranjo; her sister, Pauline Laney; her grandchildren, Angelita Naranjo; and Joseph Naranjo and wife, Consuelo; her great grandchildren, Andrea, Ashley and Adriana Jo (A.J.) Naranjo; and Marissa and Anea Scates; and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, NM with the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 9:00 am also at San Miguel with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Gary Salcedo, Frank Carrillo, Jerry Wheeler, Joseph Naranjo, James Trujillo and Joey Reinisch. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Romero, Pat O'Hara, Al Porter Sr., Andrea Naranjo, Ashley Naranjo, A.J. Naranjo, Marissa Scates and Anea Scates.
