McKinley, Melvin "Merl"

Age 76, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018. He was born in Carbon, IA on June 26, 1941, to Dale and Della McKinely.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step father, Charlie Coy.

Melvin is survived by wife, Joyce McKinley; daughters, Darci (Doug) Richter, Dori (Greg) Hampel, Pam (Fred) Romero, Patty Philby, Ann (Jim) Fredette; sons, Matt (Jessica) McKinley, Kevin (Chris) McKinley, Mark (Cindy) Philby, Bevo (Tammy) Philby, Mike (Jill) Philby; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn and Coral.

Merl was a graduate from Villisca High School in Villisca, IA. After High School he joined the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam. He was also in the National Guard with a combined service of 23 years. He worked for Eveready Battery for 31 years. Merl married Joyce Koll on June 29, 1981 in Council Bluffs, IA. They were married for 36 years. He was with the VFW Post 69 and a Member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM.

Rosary will be held at 10:00 AM, Mass 10:30 AM on Monday, May 21, 2018, at St Jude Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM. 87114. Interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM.
