Michael Andrew Chalan III

Michael Andrew Chalan III, age 36, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020. He was born in Ruidoso, NM on January 21, 1983, to Michael Andrew Chalan II and Veronica Jean Pacheco. He attended Altus High School in Altus, OK and graduated in 2001. He was employed at the Kirtland AFB Hobby Shop. 

Michael was a hard working man. As a teenager, he worked as a bagger at Ramstein AFB, Germany. He became interested in cars as a child, which led him to become a mechanic. He and his Dad attended as many car shows as they could. He was kind and known to always help people, especially those less fortunate than him.

In his last years, his love for Jesus and the church grew immensely. He was a member of Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church.

His sense of humor and his big, cheesy smile will be missed by those who loved him.  Michael was a lifelong, diehard Steeler fan. His goodnight to his Dad was “Go Steelers”. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David Pacheco and Pauline (Otero) Pacheco and paternal grandmother, Rita (Forst) Chalan.

Michael is survived by father, Michael Chalan and mother, Veronica Chalan both of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Rita (Marc) Montano of Rio Rancho, NM; nephews, Joshua and Jacob Montano of Rio Rancho, NM; nieces, Elizabeth and Mary Montano of Rio Rancho, NM; and grandfather, Frank (Jean) Chalan of Huntingdon, PA.

Rosary will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020, 10:30 am, in Sangre De Cristo, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be held immediately following Mass at Gate of Heaven, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE.
