Harper, Michael H. Age 67, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013. He was born in Evansville, IN on November 17, 1945, to Herbert and Lucille (Boylls) Harper. He moved to New Mexico in 1978. He graduated from Central High School (Evansville, IN) in 1963 where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. Mr. Harper then earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Evansville. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and, also played football for the Purple Aces. A well respected and admired professional, he helped to establish Kanouse & Harper Assoc. of NM. Mr. Harper was a diehard Lobo fan and was a longtime member of the Lobo Club. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed and treasured the time he spent watching his granddaughters' athletic events. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty McKenzie, and brother-in-law, Bob McKenzie. Mr. Harper is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cynthia J. Harper, of Corrales, NM, daughter, Stephanie Harper, of Rio Rancho, NM, son, Chad Harper, of San Juan Capistrano, CA, granddaughters, Kennedy Nicole Vote, Kendall Brooke Vote, and Kenley Danielle Vote all of Rio Rancho, NM; nieces, Dr. Sherry McKenzie and Laurel (Scott) Fulton; and nephew, Scott (Sue) McKenzie. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, September 9, 2013, at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, with Pastor Jerome Wade officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be given in Mr. Harper's honor to Destiny Center at www.destinypeople.com or to the Peoples Improvement Organization of Cambodia at www.peopleimprovement.org.
