Michelle A. Lewis, 62, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday evening, January 16, 2009. She invested her life in her faith, her family and the students and faculty who meant so much to her. Michelle worked for the Bloomfield Municipal School District for 22 years as a Secretary, a Reading Aide, a Substitute Teacher, and more recently as an Intervention Coordinator. She was a G.E.D. Instructor at San Juan College. Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and was enrolled in classes, pursuing her Master's Degree. She was a tenacious advocate for the students of Bloomfield High School and was passionate about seeing every student succeed. Michelle was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oscar Lewis; her father, Melvin Nelson; her mother, Athalie Nelson; and by her brother, Lee Nelson. She is survived by her children, Skeeter Lewis of Bloomfield, Nannette Nelson of Midland, TX, Denise Rahart of Farmington, and James Lewis of Raeford, NC; eight grandchildren, Ashlee and Amanda Lewis, Garrett and Zane Nelson, Kyle Ray and Hoyt Rahart, and Gabrielle and Lauren Lewis; her sisters, Frankie Norton of Arizona, Cozette York of New Mexico, and Pat Zane of Washington; and by her brother, Nick Nelson of Colorado.
