Cox, Mildred Mary
April 20, 1928 - July 19, 2018

Millie was born in Christopher, Illinois to Joe and Mary Wallace.  She was the middle of three children, having an older brother Joe, and a younger brother Andy.

Millie and her brothers moved to New York City with their Mother, around 1940 feet.  She completed her schooling and graduated from High School.  World War II was happening at

this time, and it was customary for young women to write to servicemen overseas.  One of these men would later become her husband, James T. Cox, Sr. (aka Rocky).

After the war, the family moved to Chicago, Illinois.  The young couple married in 1946.  Rocky got a job with Deluxe Check Printers, which he retired from in 1985.  His job helped him support their growing family of three children, Mariann, Jim, and Cindy.  Many moves around the Great Lakes Area kept Millie busy making a house a home.  She was a talented craftswoman and homemaker.  This was evident by her quilting, knitting, crocheting, and cooking skills.  She excelled to perfection in anything she put her hand to.  She was always active in any community in which they lived.

In 1977, Millie, Rocky and Cindy made the move to Albuquerque.  Once again,  Millie became active in the local Bridge Club, Newcomers, Quilting Guild, and Faith Lutheran Church.  Millie opened up her home for entertaining and Holiday gatherings.  Everyone was invited to join in for the festivities and no one was ever a stranger at her home.

In 1972, Millie welcomed the first of her five grandchildren into the world.  Tonya, daughter of Mariann and Matt Erchen was her first.  She then welcomed Jason, son of Jim and Anne Cox; and Morgan, Erin and Kelsey, daughters of Cindy and John Wright.

In 1987, Rocky, Millie's husband of 40 years, passed away.  During the next 30 years, Millie continued to stay active.  She enjoyed time traveling, clubs, shopping and going to many of the local casinos.

In early 2018, health issues began to curtail her somewhat and she decided to move to the Beehive Assisted Living, at Four Hills, in Albuquerque.  She continued to enjoy her counted cross stitch and visits from her children, grandchildren. Millie also had the pleasure of great grandchildren, Riven, Aiden, Shelby, and Cooper.

On July 19, 2018, Millie passed from this world and entered her eternal home in Heaven.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

We extend special thanks to the Beehive Assisted Living staff, for their care of Millie.  We would also like to thank the staff at Anna Kaseman Hospice for all their care.

If you would like to remember Millie's life, please make a donation to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico.
