Mildred Irene Shelton, 84, passed away on January 27, 2011, in Farmington, NM. She was born on February 8, 1926, in Jay, OK. to Henry E. and Lillian (Sharp) Kessler. Mildred grew up in New castle, TX, and graduated there in 1944. Mildred then moved to Pampa, TX, to live with an aunt and uncle. There she met John C. Shelton and married on Nov. 9, 1947. They moved to Elk City, OK, in 1953 and then Weatherford, OK, in 1961. They owned and operated John’s Booterie, along with several retail stores over the years. In 1993, they moved to Bella Vista, AR, where she lived until 2009 when she moved to Farmington. Mildred enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She was a member of the Bella Vista, AR Church of Christ. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, John Carlton Shelton; daughter, Julie Diane Shelton; parents, Henry E. and Lillian Kessler; brothers, Raymond Kessler, Coy Kessler, R.J. Kessler, Oscar Kessler, Cecil Kessler, and Donald Kessler; sister, Alta Mae Kessler; and paternal grandparents, Philip and Kate Kessler. She is survived by her son, Gary J. (Barbie) Shelton; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pastor Dennis Vaughn will be officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at Greenwood Cemetery, in Weatherford, OK. Mildred is entrusted to: Cope Memorial Chapel
