Walker, Mildred Lucille "Billie" age 89, was born in Dodson, Louisiana, to the late Hugh and Bertha Robertson. She entered eternity on the evening of November 27, 2012, from her home in Albuquerque. She was the sixth child of seven, all of whom preceded her in death: Tarver, Marvin, Harold, Bruce, Jamie, and Evelyn.She was also predeceased by her first husband, L. C. (Doc) Watkins, Jr. In addition to her husband, Eddie, she is survived by a daughter, Linda Nellist, of Eureka, CA; a son, Gene Watkins and his wife, Sue, of Dallas, TX; a granddaughter, Melissa Glass, of Martinez, CA; niece Ruth Ronan of Albuquerque; two brothers-in-law and their wives: Bob and Eileen Walker of Tulsa, OK; and Ray and Patricia Walker of Canal Winchester, OH. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews living out of state. Billie lived a life of service to others. She was loved by everyone who knew her.Her first husband died of emphysema after she cared for him at home for more than two years.She was a founding member of "Loving Hands of Hospice" that ministered to otherwise unmet needs of hospice patients.She devoted herself to helping others in need.She was a charter member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and an active member of Mary Circle, United Methodist Women, to the end of her life. Billie and her present husband, Eddie, have been married for sixteen years and each time they celebrated a wedding anniversary, they rejoiced at having had the time together.Billie had been married to "Doc" for 52 years and Eddie had been married to Gerean, for 48 years.They often said that they had been married for 116 years, having started with 100. Billie, who would have been 90 years old in January, spoke often of her long-lived parents---her father lived to the age of 102, her mother to her mid-90s.Last year she helped daughter Linda organize a reunion of 56 Robertsons and they enjoyed a week together at Fin & Feather resort near Muskogee, OK.Many commented upon how remarkable it was that, at her age, she could willingly undertake such a task, and what an outstanding success it was. Doc liked to start new businesses and, with others, founded Starline Corporation.Typically, Billie spent many unpaid hours in starting these businesses.She also helped Doc establish what is now Video-Audio Services .She contributed uncomplainingly of her time and talents and energy. Billie was a 1944 graduate of John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR. She met Doc there and they married just after graduation. He was an officer in the Army Air Force and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands when their first child, Linda, was born. Billie not only professed but lived her Christian faith every day of her long life.It is fitting that a celebration of that blessed life take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution Avenue, NE, Albuquerque.
