Mitzi Mae Loftus played her last hand of cards on this earth February 12, 2025…a game which no doubt, she won. Mitzi was born to Charles & Martha Green on October 4, 1951 in Olney, IL. They moved to Albuquerque, NM when she was 12 and lived the rest of her life in the Duke City.
She graduated from Sandia High School in 1970 and immediately married the love her life, Patrick Loftus on August 8, 1970. They had an amazing romance, enjoying 54 years of marriage together and they had two sons Chris and Ryan. Mitzi held a variety of positions as a receptionist and as an office manager for various doctors and other offices. But her favorite job was working with Pat at Harold’s Body Repair as an office manager from 1983 until she retired in 2011.
Mitzi was the “only one” for Pat, and she was hospitable, the fun-loving aunt, always laughing, very fashionable, and loved getting away to the family cabin in Chama NM, or hitting the road in the RV with Pat.
Mitzi loved Jesus Christ and knew him as her Lord and Savior. She had highlighted John 11:25 in her Bible – where Jesus said he “is the resurrection and life. The one who believes in me will live even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” We know without a doubt she is enjoying her eternal reward in heaven and is more alive today than she ever was in her time here on earth. She was a member of First Christian Church in Albuquerque and loved singing in the choir there. She also loved being involved in the women’s and crafting retreats that were held at El Porvenir Christian Camp.
Mitzi absolutely loved playing cards and beating anyone that challenged to play against her. She was ruthless and didn’t take it easy on any competitor when it came to playing games (kids or adults!). She had a very creative spirit which was seen in her paintings and thru floral arrangements, cross stich and more.
Mitzi was preceded in death by her parents, a brother David, and by her son Chris. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Pat Loftus, her son Ryan Loftus, a sister Sarah Colby, their loving 4-legged companion BJ, and a host of family who loved her dearly.
