Mrs. Mollie Anaya, 91 of Bloomfield, NM passed away on March 6, 2009, at her residence. Mollie was born in Ignacio, CO on May 18, 1917 to Ramon and Isabel (Lopez) Manzanares, who proceed her in death, her husband Fred T. Anaya, (6 years), and her son Gene Chavez, (14 years). She is survived by her son Ben Anaya, (Vangie) and her daughters Henrietta Chavez, Angie Montano, and Patty Browning, (David). Sisters Rose Archuleta, (Regino), Lucy Gonzales and a brother Johnny Manzanares, (Doris). 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 5 great- great grandchildren. Mollie moved to NM in 1919. She attended Aztec Schools and graduated in 1933. She married Henry Chavez. Henry was killed in action in W. W. II, in Okinawa. In 1946 she married Fred Anaya in Gallup. Mollie loved life, church, and especially her family, whom she nicknamed her "animales". She was president of the Legion of Mary and she was also on a bowling team, she enjoyed playing bingo, doing embroidery, and also rose gardening. A public rosary will be held on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomfield at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 304 N. Church St., Bloomfield, at 10:00am, with Father Jim Walker officiating. Christian burial to be at Bloomfield Catholic Cemetery ¼ mile North on Bloomfield/Aztec Hwy., located next to the Conoco Phillips San Juan Gas Plant. Pallbearers will be Danny Montano, Carlos Montano, Fred Anaya, and Toby Browning. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren.
