Murphy Trahan
Dec. 24, 1924 - Jan. 24, 2011 Murphy Trahan, 86, of Fruitland, died on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, in Farmington. He was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Loreauville, La., to Evaltur and Mathilde Trahan.
Murphy was the son of a sugar cane farmer. He served his county for four years in the U.S. Army, and then met and married his first wife, Margie. He went into the mechanical field, working for Dutch Gosnell Manufacturing & Supply Inc., for 24 years. In 1975, Murphy and his family left Louisiana and moved to Fruitland. He worked for Mack Trucks until 1989, when he retired. Murphy lost his wife in 2001. He met and married Ella Boudreaux in 2003. Ella passed away in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Vergie Lassalle and Claudia Viator and one grandchild. He is survived by his son, Joseph Meaux, brother, Ralph, (Ella Mae) Trahan; sisters, Dorris Suire, Louise Derouen and Mildred Racheau; and many nieces and nephews. Murphy lived a long and happy life and he will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St. in Farmington.
Interment will be at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
