Ries, Nancy Lee Nancy Lee Ries passed away December 3rd, 2012. She was born February 24th 1937 in Ionia, MI to Genevieve and Kenneth Ries. Nancy is survived her husband, Pat McDaniel; her sons, Chuck (Brenda) Gifford and David(Kelly) Gifford, Pat's sons, Pete and Phil McDaniel; and a brother, Fred (Cheryl) Ries. She is survived by four grandchildren, Troy(Rachel) Gifford, Abby Gifford, Britanny Gifford and Diedra Gifford and by two great grandchildren, Rileigh and Taylor. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jim(Linda) Ries. Nancy was a resident of New Mexico for most of her life. She loved the clear skies and dry climate. She also loved her many pets ranging from Nicole, the miniature Macaw, to Gypsy, her horse. She was a very vibrant woman that made friends easily and often. She worked for 27 years at Sandia National Laboratories, rising from an entrance level administrative position to a Principal Member of the Technical Staff. Her greatest skill was her ability to heard "scientific cats" into a cohesive project team. She worked on many projects from seabed disposal of nuclear waste, to a nuclear rocket, to protecting Russian nuclear material. Most of them owed their level of success to her ability to keep the project teams focused. She loved her family and her God. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Child Parish, 19 Camino Del Santo Nino, Tijeras, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ASPCA, P.
