Nathaniel Jesse Roanhorse

ROANHORSE- Nathaniel “Jesse” Roanhorse, 19, died May 26, 2011 in Albuquerque. He was born April 15, 1992 in Fort Defiance, AZ for the Tabaaha (Edgewater) and Tachii’nii (Red Running into Water) Clans. Roanhorse attended Highlands High School and Bataan Military Academy in Albuquerque. He was employed by Supporting Hands. He played high school football and was a wrestler. He enjoyed snowboarding and working on cars. Survivors include: his parents, Stephen and Nancy Roanhorse of Sanders, Arizona; sisters, Raina, Shelah Rachelle, Rashawna, and Tessia, all of Albuquerque; sister Rebecca Samaniego of Honolulu, Hawaii; brothers Jesiah and David of Sanders; grandmothers, Annie Lee Yazzie of Pine Springs, Arizona and Hester Rhodes of Austin, Minnesota. But these are merely facts about a person’s life and the substance. It would be impossible to summarize Jesse’s life in a few paragraphs. Jesse lived a rambunctious life always pushing the boundaries. Jesse understood the brevity of life. This understanding was exhibited in his veracious pursuit of sports, cars, outdoor activities and most importantly loving relationships with his family and friends. Although, Jesse was young and did not always articulate it, his relationship with our Christ was pivotal to his life. It was this lasting faith that sustained him in his trying battle with cancer. Jesse was known for his jovial sarcasm with friends and family but it was always grounded in love. The length of time that Jesse was with us is not as important as the impact that he made on those around him. This was evidenced by the way in which Jesse passed on, surrounded by a standing room only crowd of his family and close friends. -“No Retreat, No Reserve”, No Regrets and “I am confident I will the goodness of the Lord in the Land of the living”. Memorial Service will be at 11am on Monday, May 30, 2011 at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4800 Indian School Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fellowship Church following services.
