Nellie Chavez

Chavez, Nellie C. 
Age 70, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 in Socorro, NM. She was born to Henry Carrejo and Josefa (Castillo) Carrejo in Los Chaves, NM on February 5, 1948. Nellie graduated in 1966 from Belen High School and moved to Socorro in 1970 where she was a social worker for the State of New Mexico for 23 years. She then worked for the San Miguel Church as a secretary. Nellie enjoyed helping out at the church whenever they needed her. She was also a great cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Davila, Esther Barrela, and Mary Pacheco; brothers, Mike Carrejo, Ambrosio Carrejo, Ramon Carrejo, Orlando Carrejo, and Antonio Carrejo.  Nellie is survived by her daughter; Renata Chavez; brothers, Charlie  Carrejo, and Adam Carrejo; sisters, Alice Chavez and Dolores Cosquerio. Grandson, Damian  Townsend; and granddaughters, Brianna Garcia and Deysha Townsend. Rosary to be recited on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 8:30 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, New Mexico with Mass of Resurrection to follow at 9:00 am. Celebrant Father John Anasiudu.  Burial will take place at the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following service. A reception will follow the burial at the San Miguel Parish Hall. Pallbearers will be Tim Townsend, Joseph Davila Jr., J.B. Gonzales, and Damian Townsend. Nellie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
