Nesbah Yazzie

Yazzie died Jan. 6, 2010. She was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Navajo, into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Red Streak into Water People Clan. Yazzie went to Albuquerque Bureau of Indian Affairs High School, BIA School in Fort Defiance. She worked as a cook at Good Shephard Mission. Most of her life she was a homemaker, rancher and Navajo Weaver. She also served as Red Lake Chapter Secretary for three terms. Survivors include her son, Albert A.Yazzie of Gallup; daughter, Marilyn Litson of Mesa; father, Sam Catron of Navajo. Yazzie was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Yazzie; sons, Jerry H. Yazzie, John Yazzie Sr.; daughters, Peggy McClanahan, Judy D. Yazzie. Pallbearers will be Darryl Yazzie, Jonathan McClanahan, Levi Big Goose, Duane Yazzie, Timothy Yazzie, Brian Hardy.
