Nettie Ruth Harrelson

Nettie R. Harrelson Age 93 passed away in her home on January 27, 2013. Nettie was born in Morris, Oklahoma on June 30, 1919 and moved to her beloved New Mexico in the 1920�s. A graduate of Mountainair High School, Nettie was a born leader and never met a stranger. Her many accomplishments include owning and managing two different businesses, elected positions in Socorro and Quay counties, Democratic Party executive director, Eastern Star Worthy Matron, and state Cowbelle President. A life-long Democrat known for her straight talk and sense of humor, Nettie was a tireless volunteer, managing campaigns for elected officials from governors to US senators. And yet above all, her most cherished accomplishment was her family. She lives on in us all and will never be forgotten. Nettie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim of 59 years who passed away in September 2012. She is survived by - - three children � Ann Echols of Santa Fe, NM, Jean Tamura and husband Henry of Albuquerque, Colt Harrelson and wife Debbie of Ruidoso, NM; six grandchildren � Kelly Baker (Ken), Lance Echols (Windy), Casey and Jessie Stephens, Andi and Jake Harrelson; three great grandchildren � Bryce and Breann Baker and Evan Echols; many nieces, nephews and many, many friends. A celebration of her life will be held at Daniels Family Funeral Services-Strong-Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave SE on February 9, 2013 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nettie�s name to New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranch, PO Box 9, Belen, NM 87002-9901.
