Gonzales, Nicolas E. Sr. Nicolas (Nick) Gonzales was born on June 03, 1934 to Jose and Guadalupe Gonzalez, went peacefully to his heavenly family on June 19, 2013 after a year battle with cancer. Nicolas is preceded in death by his parents, his big brother Gustavo Gonzalez; his baby sister Juanita Gonzalez; his father and mother in-law Eutimio and Eufelia Medina; his brother in-law Albert Rivera; his son in-law Robb Livingston; his nephews Bobby Cohn, Mike Aragon, Pierre Rodriguez; and his grand-nephew Juan Miguel Trujillo. Nicolas is survived by his wonderful loving wife of 51 years Helen M. Gonzales; daughter Agnes Lopez; daughter Dolores Livingston; son Nick Gonzales Jr.; son Philip Gonzales; daughter Lisa Gatti (Robert); daughter Margaret Gonzales; son David Gonzales (Jenifer); daughter Frances Gonzales; grandsons Aaron Gonzales (Amanda); Darick Gallegos (Glory); granddaughters: Annette Padilla (Gabe), Andrea Lopez, Amanda Lopez (Edward Vigil); grandson Bobby Gatti (Vanessa): granddaughters Nicole Gonzales, Jasmine Rosales (Beto), Amber Lopez; grandsons: Roland Gatti, Chris Livingston, Richard Gatti; granddaughter Megan Livingston; grandsons: Raymond Gatti, Philip Gonzales Jr.; granddaughter Felicia Gonzales; grandsons: Darin Gonzales, Timothy Gonzales; and great-grandchildren: Steven, Brandon, Layla, Grace, Adrian, Alex, Aaliyah, and Bella. He is also survived by his sisters Amparo Cohn and Josephine Gonzales; his brothers, Tony Gonzales (Cecelia) and Juan I. Gonzales (Mary Alice); his sister in-laws Arabella Gonzalez and Ruby Rodriguez (Jessie); his brother in-laws Sam Medina and Ray Medina; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, compadres, and close friends. Nicolas was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico and grew up in Taos, New Mexico. He was very active in sports such as football, basketball, and went to the All-stars in baseball. He was also in Student Council and Honor Society. He graduated from Taos High School in 1953. After High School he enlisted in the Navy for 6 years. Nicolas then got an associate�s degree; retired from the state in 1988 and then retired from the armed forces in June of 1994. In 1960 Nicolas met the love of his life Helen Medina. They married on October 31, 1961 and had 8 fabulous children, which now expanded to 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Nicolas had many hobbies that he loved such as fishing, camping, playing his guitar, playing cards, and drinking and having fun with his friends and family. His favorite teams were the Cleveland Indians and the San Francisco 49ers. He was happy to see them go to the Super Bowl last season even though they didn�t win. Nicolas was a member of the FOE, Past Presidents, and the American Legion when he lived in Pecos. Nicolas will be greatly and dearly missed. The Gonzales family would like to invite you to a Rosary on Thursday June 27, 2013 at The church of the Incarnation 2309 Monterey Rd. NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144 at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be at 10:30 am on Friday June 28, 2013 at Church of the Incarnation, and burial will be Monday July 1, 2013 at Santa Fe. National Cemetery at 10:30 am, with a get together at the FOE on Early St. Serving as Pallbearers are: his sons Nick Jr., Philip, and David; and grandsons Aaron, Christopher, and Raymond.
