Our beloved mother and family matriage, Nina Mae Hewitt, passed on to our Lord’ s house in Heaven, Monday, December 18th, 2023. She left this world in the company of family at home after a short illness.
Born to Miles and Nina Meyer in Sibley, Iowa, November 18, 1931. After graduating high school in Garden City, Minnesota, she moved to Seattle. Where she met her husband, Rolan C. Hewitt, and on October 21st, 1950, the two were united in marriage and resided in Fort Richardson, Alaska, where Roland was stationed. Son Russell was welcomed in 1951.
Upon Roland’s discharge from the army, the family moved to Alexandria, VA, where Roland went to an engineering school. Daughter Linda Roline joined in 1956. A year later the family moved to Albuquerque, NM, where Roland was employed by Sandra Labs in 1957. Son Randy joined the family in 1961.
Soon after Nina started work at State Farm Insurance where she remained until retirement in 1993. She was involved in the Order of Eastern Star and many senior Activities at the Palo Duro Senior Center for many years. A member of Del Norte Baptist Church (DNBC) in Albuquerque for a lot of years and extremely active in its many functions. She loved going to craft shows with her friends and was always up for a good card or board game. During her married life, she visited many countries with her husband like Europe, Canada, and Mexico; along with a few trips to Hawaii. In 2001 she went to Germany with son Russell to search out her German heritage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Ken and Patricia Meyer, Rodger Meyer, Don and Patricia Meyer, husband; Roland C. Hewitt; daughter; Linda R. Meadows.
She is survived her younger sister; Beverly Young of Vancouver, WA; (and her family of John and Pam Legget, and her son, Rick, and Sharon Young and family), her son Russell Hewitt and his family (Ryan, Cori, and son Madoc Hewitt, son Justin, Katie and sons Finn and Wade Hewitt, and his daughter Jessica Hewitt), her son Randy, Monica), and children Samantha and Diego Carreira, Nathan Hewitt, and daughter Lauren Hewitt). In addition, her late daughter Linda’s family of (Jason, Sarah, and children Bela and Brycen Meadows), son Jacob, Tina, (daughter Jamie and family, Joseph, and daughter Janelle Gutierrez) and Linda’s son Jordan Meadows.
Our sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother will be lovingly remembered and missed. Per her wishes, services will be only for immediate family at gravesite, presided by Associate Pastor Kevin Warner of DNBC... At a later date, there will be a celebration of her life.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
