Nina Fay Williamson, beloved mother, sister, Nana, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren on April 4, 2025, just one week shy of her 86th birthday. A longtime resident of Carlsbad, NM, and most recently of Albuquerque, NM, Nina touched countless lives with her kindness, creativity, and deep devotion to family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lytle Williamson, and her parents, John D. Carr and Hallie Carr. She is survived by her brother, Jim Carr (Mary Carr) of Carlsbad, and her five children: Tamela Duke (Jim Duke) of Tomball, TX; Lisa McClure (Wesley McClure) of Mesa, AZ; Richard Williamson (Cheri Williamson) of Albuquerque, NM; Christopher Williamson (Ronda Williamson) of Mesa, AZ; and Aaron Williamson (Bonnie Williamson) Albuquerque, NM. Her legacy lives on in her 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild — all of whom lovingly called her “Nana.”
Born and raised in Carlsbad, Nina dedicated much of her life to the local public school system, serving in various roles and supporting generations of students. In 2014, she and her husband Lytle moved to Albuquerque, NM, where they had the privilege of being surrounded by family and caring for their grandson, Carson — a time that brought great joy and purpose to their later years. In Albuquerque, Nina continued to share her passions for quilting, sewing, baking, canning, and making cherished memories with her family.
Nina will be remembered as a devoted mother, wife, and Nana. She poured love into everything she did — whether it was crafting custom quilts and pillowcases for her grandchildren, preparing batches of her signature prickly pear jelly, or baking her famous cowboy cookies. Her hands were always busy, her heart always full.
Services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12701 Indian School Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. Burial will follow immediately at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
