Nora M Borden

Nora M. Borden, aged 76, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away December 9, 2016 after a brief illness.  She is survived by her son, James E. Parks and her daughter, Therese I. Mondragon (Borden), her grandchildren, Justin Mondragon and Joseph Mondragon as well as her great-grandson, Julian Mondragon, her sisters, Sylvia R. Peltier (King) and Sue Sylva (King) and many nieces and nephews.  Nora was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Borden, her son, Bryan K. Parks and her grandson, Johnny Mondragon, as well as her parents, Max and Irene King, and several brothers and sisters.  Additionally, her loyal black Labrador canine companion, for the past 10 years, Mandy, passed in March of this year.  Nora was a longtime resident of Albuquerque for many years before retiring to her birthplace of southern Illinois where she was a beloved member of the Southside Baptist Church.  Nora worked in the restaurant industry for more than 30 years before transitioning into caregiving in 1986.  She worked for the ARCA, here in Albuquerque, for many years, caring for the developmentally disabled.  She had a strong sense of compassion, enjoyed caring for others and spent the last 25 years of her life doing so.  A funeral service will be held Friday, December 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Daniels’ Family Funeral Home at 2400 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.  She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.  Pallbearers include her son, James E. Parks, her grandsons, Justin Mondragon and Joseph Mondragon and son-in-law, Rick Mondragon.  Honorary pallbearers include her grandson, by love, Spencer Metro, of West Frankfurt, IL.  The family would like to thank the Presbyterian Hospice providers, Sarah, Paul, Rox and Helena for their exceptional and caring manner.  Nora will be missed beyond words.
