Norma L. Postlethwaite

Postlethwaite - Norma Postlethwaite, passed away in her sleep on November 28, 2012. She was born in Wichita, Kansas to George and Estelle Lanning on July 31, 1923. She graduated from East High in Wichita, KS and attended Wichita State University. Norma married her high school sweetheart, John Postlethwaite. Their daughter Martha was first born to that union. While John was serving in Germany in WWII, Norma worked as a clerk in the supply department at Cessna Aircraft. When John returned from the service they lived in married student housing at Kansas State University while John earned his graduate degree. Their life took an unexpected turn when John was drafted again for the Korean Conflict and off they went to posts in Missouri and Maryland. After their return to Wichita, they added two more daughters to the family, Pam and Debbie. Shortly after they were born, the family moved to Albuquerque where John worked at Sandia Labs until he passed away in 1976. Norma earned a degree in Elementary Education and taught fifth grade for the Albuquerque Public Schools. Following her retirement, she served as a docent at the Museum of Albuquerque and as a volunteer at Anna Kaseman. Always adventuresome, Norma bought an RV and spent winters in the San Diego area for about ten years making many friends from all over the U.S. and Canada during that time. Norma was preceded in death by her husband John, her brother George and her parents. She is survived by her daughters Martha Bass and her husband Elmer, Pam Postlethwaite and her significant other John Beauvais and Pam�s children, Christian Palmer of Seattle and his daughter, Gracie; Haleigh Palmer of Taos, N.M. and her son Rohnin and Shane Palmer of Crested Butte, Colorado; and her daughter, Debbie Postlethwaite, of Alameda, California and her son Johnathon Crook, of San Diego, California. A private graveside service will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Charitable donations may be made in Norma�s name to the Animal Humane Society.
