Norman Eugene Abney, Sr.

Norman Eugene Abney, Sr., 92, of Farmington passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in Farmington. Norman was born December 13, 1918 in Pottsville, Arkansas the son of John Melvin Abney and Florence Eunice (Garren) Abney. Norman worked as a machinist for many years and after retiring loved gardening. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Norman is survived by his son John Melvin Abney and wife Roxane of Farmington; daughters Elizabeth Ann Abney Thompson and husband Lester, Patricia Ruth Abney Dixon; 16 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren; a sister Anna Mae Abney Groman, many extened family who loved him and many dear friends. Norman was preceded in death by his wife Elva Case Abney, brother Avery Earl Abney and his oldest son Norman Eugene Abney Jr. Visitation will start at 10:00 am and go until 10:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 31, 2011 at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. with Joel Sharp officiating. Norman will then be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 East Main St. in Farmington.
