Odin E. Westgaard

Westgaard, Odin Everett Age 76, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013. Odin was born December 9, 1936 in Cody, WY to Billie Ruth Brim and Olaf Westgaard Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wayne Westgaard. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Ruth; son Olaf Westgaard and Nina of Chicago; son Odin Orville and Paula of Virginia Beach, VA and their sons Erik and Kyle; son Oscar and his children Amanda Westgaard-Vairuzo and Ryan of Illinois; a great granddaughter Sophia Vairuzo; a sister-in-law Margaret Westgaard and her daughter Sarah of Dallas, TX; nephew Wayne Westgaard and Angela and their two children Skylar and Martin from Forney, TX; a brother-in-law David Nash and Marge from Schenectady, NY; a step-son Barry D. Cone and Cari from Grants, NM; a step-son Douglas R. Cone and Jennifer and their son Daniel from Denver, CO. Odin graduated from high school in Walden, CO. Received a B.A., M.A. and Ed.D. from the University of Northern Colorado. He taught school for a time and then supervised student teachers in Colorado. He coached football, track and wrestling. He moved to Chicago where he worked for Hale Associates for 25 years. He wrote and co-wrote several technical books. He also published three fiction books. His poetry was awesome. One of the greatest joys of his life was singing. He was a tenor in the choir at St. Paul�s United Church of Christ for 8 years. Of late he was a member and in the choir at High Desert United Methodist Church in Rio Rancho. He had many friends and he will be sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 3:00 pm at High Desert United Methodist Church, 4200 Meadowlark Ln, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment will be at a later date.
