Ola M. Ellison was born April 20, 1937 to the late Nettie Beard and Arthur Gregory in Roda, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Ellison Sr.
September 12,1953, Ola met and married Clinton Ellison Sr. The following year, they began their family. Six children were born of this union.
Ola, also known as Ms. Ola, or Mrs. E., attended Central High in Appalachia, Virginia. At the age of 16, she relocated to Youngstown, Ohio where she completed her high school education. Ola finished two years of college at Youngstown State University, majoring in sociology.
She became a resident of New Mexico in 1980 due to the illness of her husband. She spent many years caring for him until his death in 1985. Ola was a devoted wife and mother who provided a safe and nurturing environment for her family.
Working with children with special needs was her passion. Ola was employed with Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) from 1987-1990 where she worked as an educational assistant. As an employee of APS, and Alta Mira Family Services, Mrs. Ellison worked with children with disabilities. In 1990, she retired and moved to Maxton, North Carolina where she continued to work with elementary students with special needs in the public schools.
Ola leaves behind six children to cherish her memory, Shirley (William) Pryor, Wanda Ellison, Clinton Jr. (Sheila) Ellison, Brian Ellison, Vincent Ellison, Brent Ellison, 22 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 20 Great Great Grandchildren.
