Ola Maxine Scott, "Mickey," was born January 6, 1931, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Lloyd and Vida Little. Mickey played basketball in high school and was always proud of her grades and spelling ability. Mickey worked as a "Soda Jerk" in the local drug store, and at 16, she met her future husband, Leonard T. Scott. They were smitten with each other, and after six weeks of dating, they eloped, with Mickey's mother in tow, to Vernon, Texas, because Mickey was too young to get married in Oklahoma. With her mother's permission in Texas, they were married on September 25, 1947, at a minister's home.
Mickey was a hard-working housewife and was lovingly spoiled by her adoring husband. They had two children, Lynda and Jerry. Then, in about 1957, Leonard and Mickey moved to Los Alamos, NM, where Leonard worked for Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Mickey did everything selflessly for everybody ALL THE TIME. That was just who Mickey had always been to her family and friends!
Before Leonard retired, he and Mickey purchased land in Pojoaque, NM, where they started and ran Scotty's Mobile Home & RV Sales for 15 years. They retired to Rio Rancho, NM, in 1990 but soon moved to North Hills Mobile Home Park in Albuquerque. Leonard and Mickey were both very happy in their new home as soon as Leonard fixed it the way Mickey wanted it.
Leonard and Mickey traveled in their motor home all over the US and went to all 50 states. They enjoyed cruise ships and went to Alaska and the Caribbean. They loved going to Hawaii and even went to Hong Kong. For their 50th wedding anniversary, they took a six-week trip in their motor home and went to South Dakota to Mount Rushmore, the Great Lakes, and Niagara Falls. It was one of Mickey's favorite trips. Mickey loved her family and taking care of others was her passion. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing games, watching movies, especially musicals, and watching football and baseball. She had a great love for dogs and ducks. Mickey always had an incredible memory and could tell us things about us that we couldn't even remember. Mickey will forever be missed!
