Olympia L. Chavez

CHAVEZ- Olympia L. Chavez, age 94, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011at Presbyterian-Kaseman Hospice. She was born on June 23, 1916 in Torreon, NM to the late Antonio and Maria Luna. She was married to the late Felix Chavez in Albuquerque, NM. Olympia was a homemaker who dedicated her life to providing a loving home, raising her children. She then assisted in raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish, and a long time member of Our Legion of Mary. Olympia is survived by her two sons, Joseph and Anthony Chavez; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her sisters Betty Minero, Flora Lopez, Lilly Massey, and Priscilla Ramirez. She is preceded in death by her daughter Marcella Chavez; sisters Cipy Castillo, Lena Salas; and her great-granddaughter Grace Chavez. A reciting of the Rosary will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 309 Stover Ave. NW, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.; Mass of Christian Burial will also be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.; followed by Interment at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery.
