Ora Mae Schwantes Huish

Ora Mae Huish, 98, of Farmington, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011, in Farmington. She was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Douglas, Ariz., to Carl and Elizabeth Loving Schwantes. Ora Mae met the love of her life, Claude Huish, and they were married Jan. 14, 1930, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Ora Mae and Claude were married for 54 years before he passed away. Ora Mae and Claude moved to Farmington in 1948. They had a dairy and farm in this area for 22 years. She was a mother and housewife. She loved her church, in which she held many positions; writing letters, hummingbirds, friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Carl and Elizabeth Schwantes; her husband, William Claude Huish; sisters, Mildred Bangerter and Elsie Fern Bushman; and her brothers, Carl Henry (Budso) Schwantes and John Schwantes. She is survived by her sons, Claude Henry (Candace) Huish and Carl Stanley (Ann) Huish; daughter, Leila Mae Thompson; grandchildren, Stephen Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Alissa Howell, Billy Huish, Bobby Huish, Carla Wade and Terry Thornton; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Visitation for Ora Mae will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Knudsen Chapel, 1310 E. 25th St. in Farmington, with Bishop Randy Foutz conducting. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Stephen Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Billy Huish, Bobby Huish, Terry Thornton, and Tom Wade.
