Owen M. McKenna

Owen M. McKenna, 66, of Rio Rancho, passed away on March 23, 2021.

Owen was born in Glen Cove, New York to Anna Weeda and Peter McKenna Jr. on October 30, 1954. He attended Brentwood High School and graduated in 1972. Then he was accepted into the University of New Mexico. In 1979 he received his Bachelors. He continued his education and in 1986 he received his Masters degree. He was employed by the B.I.A and worked as a Federal Teacher for 35 years. As a Teacher he worked with special needs students and acted as the school’s Administrator.

Owen’s hobbies and interests included cooking and watching football. Owen was a N.Y Giants fan who loved to party and entertain. He was especially known for his delicious potato salad.

Owen McKenna is survived by his sister, Siobhan Long of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Joyce Jankus of Bayport, NY; sister, Denise Cole of Bolivia, NC; sister, Donna Christian of Rio Rancho,NM; sister, Colleen Misciagna of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Ronald McKenna of Clearwater, FL and brother, Wayne McKenna of Rio Rancho, NM.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a very caring and big-hearted individual. He loved and dedicated his teaching to all his students.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
