Patricia “Trish” Lynn Lucero, age 48 of Estancia, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 21st, 2020 at her home. She was born to the late Frank and Libby Davila on January 10, 1972.
Trish grew up with her four sisters in Las Cruces, New Mexico and graduated from New Mexico State University. Trish was the youngest of her siblings but never shied away from speaking up for herself. She had a boisterous personality, heart of a lion, and always eager to help a stranger.
Anyone who knew Trish knew the powerful relationship she had with God. She was always eager to share and help guide one towards finding their own faith. Every year before her father’s passing; she and he would have a donut challenge for who attended the most daily masses during lent. In 1993, Trish led a group of young people to World Youth Day. Trish wanted to lead by example and guide the young people to feel the impact God could have on their lives as long as you believed and built your faith.
While starting her career in Albuquerque she met her husband Jesse Lucero Jr. Jesse as she would say was a “keeper”. Jesse came with a bonus package of two young boys. Trish never once questioned being a mom. She was eager to love them and become their biggest cheerleader. She wanted everyone to know her boys were growing into amazing men. She was so proud of each of their accomplishments and what an honor it was to be their mom. There was nothing in this world that could come between the love she had for her husband and her two sons; and soon to be grand-baby. Her life was complete as long as she was in a room with all of her boys.
In 2009, Trish survived a horrific car accident and many medical providers called her recovery a miracle. She fought hard to overcome her brain injury and never let her injury stop her from being a mom, a wife, or a business partner. Through her medical journey she became invested in learning more and how she could give back. Trish started to get involved with Love Your Brain and applied to attend their camp. She was very sad to learn she wasn’t selected the first year but through determination and persistence she was accepted to attend their camp this year. She was unable to attend their camp because of COVID-19 and although she was upset she never gave up hope to be a part of this great program. Trish never let her brain injury stop her from living her life to the fullest. Many family members would say Trish’s brain injury never impacted her feisty personality and her love for life.
Trish is survived by her husband Jesse Lucero Jr; son Jesse Lucero III (Tiffini); and son Andrew Lucero. She is also survived by a Grandchild on the way; Sisters: Nancy Syner (Scott), Janet Ferrera (Denny), Martha Barnes (Jeff), and Carla (Nick); nieces and nephews; and a number of other loving relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Libby Davila.
