Patrick Chavez

Chavez, Patrick J. Age 64, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2014. He was born in Springer, NM on August 16, 1949. Patrick is survived by his loving wife Dolores; sons Joel Hill (Patty Ann), Chris Chavez (Suzanne), Matthew Chavez, & Wade Rose; Grandchildren Desiree Apodaca, Robert Hill, Brianna Hill, Niyah Chavez, Vincent Martinez, & Matthew Martinez. Also his siblings, Dolly, Norm, Chico & Rachel, brother-in-laws Larry & John, nieces, nephews, & numerous friends. Pat served in the U.S. Navy after high school. He joined the Albuquerque Fire Department in December 1973 and retired in December 1996 after serving proudly for 23 years. After retirement he began working as a Federal Security Officer with the Diamond Group. Pat loved being with his grandchildren and family. He was a jokester with everyone he met and knew. He also enjoyed going fishing and to play slots at the casino. Pallbearers will be Retired Firefighters, Paul Garcia, Mike Montoya, Joe Luna, Mike Ortega, Ron Herrera & Richard Ortiz. Visitation will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, July 21, 2014 at First Spanish Fruit Avenue Baptist Church, 812 Fruit Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM with a "Celebration of Life" immediately following. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:00 am, at First Spanish Fruit Avenue Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
