Patrick Salerno, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 17 from injuries sustained in a car accident on October 12 while driving home from Saturday night mass with his wife, Joanne. Patrick was born to Antoinette and Patrick Salerno Sr. (predeceased) on June 16, 1943, in Taylor, Pennsylvania, Patrick was known for his quiet strength, love of family, and deep empathy. His life was marked by hard work, moments of laughter, and time with loved ones. Patrick's presence illuminated the lives of all who knew him, and his absence leaves an indelible void.
After a successful career at IBM in East Fishkill, NY, Patrick moved in 1994 to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, where he continued working with Intel before retiring. In New York, he was an active member of the East Fishkill Volunteer Rescue Squad, eventually serving as district fire chief. In New Mexico, he remained dedicated to his community and the Church of the Incarnation. An instructor in the CERT team (Citizens Emergency Response Team) continuing his lifelong commitment to helping others.
A member of the Corvette Club, Patrick and Joanne participated in numerous events and car shows, forming lasting friendships through their shared passion. He also enjoyed marksmanship as a member of a local gun club, finding joy in these hobbies and the connections they brought.
Above all, Patrick cherished his grandchildren, Jordan, Olivia, and Sean. His love for them was evident in every conversation, and the memories they shared will be treasured forever.
Patrick is survived by his children, Pat Salerno III, Sean Salerno, and Michelle Salerno, and his stepsons Chris and Keith Allen (predeceased). He also leaves behind his daughters-in-law, Ilse Allen, Alison Salerno, and Loren Salerno, as well as his grandchildren Jordan, Rachel, Olivia, and Sean, and many extended family members.
Services to honor Patrick's life will be held at The Church of the Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Road, Rio Rancho, NM 87144, on Thursday, October 31st. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 am and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will take place immediately afterward at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho, NM.
Patrick's legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Church of the Incarnation in Patrick’s memory.
