Patsy Maudine Brasiel, age 87, passed away October 13, 2019 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was born to Calvin and Ruth Fugate, on October 29, 1931, in Canton, Texas. She attended Canton High School. She retired from Pacific Research Technology, Inc. She was a member of Word of Life Baptist Church, Pastor Kevin Haney. Her special quotation was 2nd Peter 3:9 (NIV) which states: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
Patsy Maudine Fugate was born October 29th, 1931 – exactly 2 years to the day after the stock market fell. She spent her formative years in the Great Depression, which molded her into the person she became. Because of her kind soul and spirit, and having experienced first-hand what it was like to do without, she spent her time on earth doing for others rather than herself. Patsy was painfully shy as a young woman, but her beauty inside and out was notable and she won Homecoming Queen at Canton High in her sophomore year. Shortly after, she met the man she would marry – Luther Wayne Brasiel. They were joined in marriage on April 10th, 1948 and remained together until his death on April 13th, 1983. She modeled for a time as a young newlywed, learning tips of the trade from her beautiful mother Ruth. Although Patsy had three children of her own, her and Wayne regularly opened their hearts and home to young people in need. They fed them, housed them and gave them a feeling of love and security. They were known as “Mom” and “Pops” to so many. Her love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ never wavered. She was an avid student of the Bible and taught many Sunday school classes in her younger years. She was very excited about Christian Eschatology and reviewed it often. She was never without a song – constantly “making a joyful noise unto the Lord”. She was joyous AND happy, no matter the circumstances. In her later years, she renewed her friendship with Wayne’s brother, Ken. A romance blossomed and they were married in August of 1992 and spent 12 beautiful years together as husband and wife – until his death on 10/01/04. It should be noted that Steve Ruppert, her employer at Pacific Research, was a faithful and loving “adopted” son and brother. His family loved her like their own. The same for our precious “adopted” sister and daughter, Devonne Williams. Patsy was the epitome of an example of Christianity and love for the Lord to her children, friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, L. Wayne Brasiel; brothers, Victor D. Fugate and James D. Fugate; and her second loving husband, Kenneth L. Brasiel.
Patsy is survived by her son, Timothy Wayne Brasiel and wife Donna of Klamath Falls, Oregon; daughter, Cherie Luanne Castillo and husband Carlos of Meridian, Idaho, and daughter, Kristi Rae Early of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Grandchildren, Danny, Mike, Amanda, Jon Brasiel, Jared Brasiel, Callaghan , Crosslyn and Chesney; 13 great-grandchildren, many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services are forthcoming.
