Paul Everett Allen

May 4, 1947 — January 26, 2024

Albuquerque

Paul Everett Allen was born on May 4, 1947 in Pittsfield, IL to Everett & Eloise (Sanderson) Allen. He grew up on his family farm in Illinois with one older sister Peggy (Allen) Carsey. Paul attended college at Freed-Hardeman Christian College in Tennessee and then Oklahoma Christian College. After graduating in 1969, he moved to Albuquerque, NM where he resided until his passing on January 26, 2024.

Paul dedicated his life to God and lived an active life filled with family and friends, sports and travel. He had a large family with 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Paul was a Physical Education teacher for over 40 years teaching at Paradise Hills, Acoma and Inez elementary schools. He was great with children, always patient and encouraging them to do their best. In his free-time and after retirement, he had a thriving handyman side business. Paul was known all his life for being an honest, caring and hard worker.

Paul was an engaged member of the Riverside Church of Christ with his beloved wife of many years, Claudia Allen. They participated in countless activities with the church including backpacking, working at Ponderosa Christian Camp in the summers and helping around the church grounds. Paul played many sports throughout life but his big love was softball. He spent much of his life on the softball field playing in different leagues in Albuquerque; most recently he was on two teams in the senior league. He was always in great physical shape between his years playing ball, teaching PE and helping others with handyman projects. Paul also loved to travel and visited many exotic locations around the globe. His favorite spots were the beach in Hawaii and riverboat cruises in Europe.

Paul was happiest, though, spending time with his family and friends. He was very close to his family and often traveled to attend family reunions, weddings, sporting events, graduation ceremonies, theater shows, etc. He was an active grandparent and courageously babysat his grandchildren for extended periods of time. He especially enjoyed playing card games and will be forever famous for his delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia, sister Peggy (Gary) Carsey and daughters Amy (James) Ramsey, Angie (Freddy) Chiriboga and Amber (Mark) Fuerstenberger, Claudia’s children Molly (Matt) Rush and Adam Kidd, grandchildren Emma, Mark, Cole, Jamie, Gabby, Marcie and Landon, and nieces and nephews. Paul was loving, kind, funny, forgiving, helpful, patient and a great role model for those around him. He was always quick with a smile, a thank you and hug. He will be missed by many.
