Paulette Marie Yepa-Phillips age 44 passed away Thursday December 28th, 2017 in Chandler, Arizona. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 24th, 1973. Paulette is full Pueblo Native American. She is from Jemez, Santo Domingo, Cochiti and Laguna. Paulette was very proud of her heritage. She participated/danced and strongly believed in all the practices and her Native way. Paulette lived in New Mexico most of her life. She also lived in Virginia, Oregon and Arizona but New Mexico was always her home and where she wanted to be. Paulette was very versatile and could do anything she set her mind to. She received her Paralegal certificate from University of New Mexico. She went on to be a Paralegal in Albuquerque and Sandoval County. She was very meticulous and could tell you about any court case at any time. She enjoyed working in the legal field and loved all her co-workers. Paulette was also into beauty and style. She earned her Cosmetology degree from DeWolffs where as a cosmetologist she enjoyed interacting with people and priding herself on the perfect hair cut for everyone. Paulette's real pride was as a small business owner for Yepa's Famous Frybread, this was her family’s Frybread Stand that she took over after her father passed away 6 years ago. She started working in these stands since she was very little. She started off making drinks and hot chocolate. Her family’s stand is well known for its Famous Frybread and Indian Tacos. She elevated the stand to new heights but still kept all the family tradition. Paulette loved and enjoyed traveling, listening to music, dancing and sports. Paulette’s had a big heart; she was very loving and caring. She was always available for people’s needs and wants; she would gladly listen and give advice. She never had any hesitation to help others. She had a great sense of humor and brought laughter to family and friends. Paulette was also very generous and gave to everyone even if she didn't have it, she would find a way to make it work to help others. Paulette is survived by her husband Brian Phillips, her Mother Doris Gallegos, Brother James Yepa, Sisters: Dayleen Grondalski and Gerolyn Gallegos, Nephews: Tyler Yepa and John Paul Grondalski, Niece: Katharine Grondalski, God Child: Desi Herrera and by her countless friends. A viewing and reading of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Daniels Family Funeral Home, 7601 Wyoming Boulevard, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, January 5, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Boulevard, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Boulevard, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
