Phillip Begay died June 18, 2011, in Tucson. He was born April 10, 1972, in Ganado, Arizona. Begay was born into the Near Water People Clan and he was born for the Bitter Water People Clan. Begay graduated from Many Farms High School, June 7, 1991 and he attended Kicking Horse Job Corps in Montana. Begay received certification in Heavy Equipment Operating from Kicking Horse. He was employed with the Grand Canyon National Park (1993), Imery Marble Mining Company in Tucson (2005), and Lime Stone Mining Company (2005-2006). Begay was also an artist and he loved to do beadwork. Survivors include his brother, Thomas Begay, Donald Begay, Tsosie Begay; sisters, Lille Mann, Linda Begay, and Julia Richardson. Begay was preceded in death by his parents, Whitehair's Son Begay, Jessie begay-Nez; sister, Darlene Begay. Pallbearers will be Thomas Begay, Tsosie Begay, Donald Begay, Leo Mann, Jimmie Richardson, and James Tsosie.
