Polly Ann Azar

Polly Ann Azar was born March 10, 1959 and passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2018. She was 59. Although Polly’s life was tragically cut short, you wouldn’t know it by looking at her life accomplishments. She held a Master’s in Technology and Occupational Education, a Certification in Public School Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Education from the University of New Mexico. Additionally, Polly was a co-founder and Associate Director of both the Albuquerque Career Enrichment Center’s Early College Academy (CEC) and the Albuquerque Institute for Mathematics and Science (AIMS) at the University of New Mexico. Polly was a board member for various non-profit organizations, a Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) Faculty Summer Hire for 15 years, and a School Educator, Administrator, and Program Developer for 25+ years. Although impressive, these accomplishments pale in comparison to Polly’s personality and compassion. Just as Polly was determined to listen, connect, and address the needs of every individual she met in her educational career, the same could be said for those in her personal life. Polly loved all her friends and family dearly and wanted nothing more than to see them succeed. Polly was fascinated with two symbols in her life, angels and hearts. Perhaps her fascination with hearts was due to her belief that love could conquer all or perhaps it was the only symbol that could somewhat reflect how she felt about her friends and family. Perhaps her fascination with angels was due to her losing her mother, father, aunts, and basically an entire generation before her at an early age. Or perhaps her fascination with angels was in part a premonition of what she would eventually become. Whatever the reason, it is no doubt that Polly has affected the hearts of many during her short life on earth, and she will always be remembered as an angel to those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
