Quinton "Cotton" Gipson, 81, of Farmington, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at his home, following a lengthy illness. Cotton was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Silver Valley, Texas, to James Elbert Gipson and Viva Eloner (Gallaspy) Gipson. Cotton moved to Farmington in 1957, where he was employed in the oil and gas industry, remaining in the industry until his retirement in 1988. One of his most anticipated activities was the annual Farmington Boys and Girls Club BBQ, where he served as "Chief Bean Chef." He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister. Cotton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue; his son, James (Mary Ann); sisters, Geraldine Wiles and Martha Simonton; grandson, Jeremy; and granddaughter, Jennifer (Dustin) Morrow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either Farmington Boys and Girls Club or Northwest New Mexico Hospice. Cotton is in the care of:
