Ramon D. Gonzales

GONZALES- Ramon D. Gonzales, 79, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 30, 2011. Ramon was born in Delia, NM on August 31, 1931. Ramon was a great cook and enjoyed making beef jerky. He could play the guitar and create beautiful gardens. Ramon enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, and talking but most of all he adored his family and loved spending time with them especially his grandchildren. Ramon is survived by his beloved wife Virginia of 55 years; his sisters, Mary Gonzales, Rita Tafoya, Antonia Page, Carmen Martinez, Alice Palafox, Beatrice Perez; one brother, Albert Gonzales; his loving children Ramon Gonzales Jr., Kathryn Gonzales-Smith, Patty Gonzales, Gary Gonzales, 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Ramon is preceded in death by his sister Eloisa Rivera, his brothers Benny Gonzales, Ruben Gonzales and Patrick Gonzales; his son Joe Lavine-Gonzales; and daughter Shannon Gonzales. Ramon will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Visitation will take place at Garcia Mortuary in the Chapel of Angles, Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Reciting of the Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.; Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants, NM., Friday, February 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.; Interment to follow at Grants Cemetery, Grant, NM. Casket Bearers are Gregory Hermosillo, Paul Gonzales, Mark Landovazo, William Landovazo, Julian Martinez, Nathan Palafox and Lavine Gonzales Jr.; Ramon’s care has been entrusted to Garcia Mortuary 717 Stover S.W.
