Ray Corliss

Ray Edward Corliss, 89, passed away Sunday, June 3, at the La Vida Llena Retirement Community, Albuquerque. The son of the late Fred Ray and Ella Mae (London) Corliss was born March 1, 1923, in Sherman Mills, ME. Ray graduated from the University of Maine at Orono and was a World War II veteran. On August 25, 1946, he and Elizabeth Rosa Platt began 63 years of marriage, ended by her death in 2010. Survivors include son, George (Vi) Corliss of Waukesha, WI, and daughter, Ann (George) Brickner of Findlay, OH; granddaughters Mary (Kevin) Schueller of Eagle, WI, Jennifer (Nowell) York of Gahanna, OH, and Michelle Brickner of Cleveland, OH; grandson Peter Oestreich in Chicago, IL; great grandsons Michael and Thomas Schueller and great granddaughters Samantha and Sophia York. A daughter, Jane Corliss and a sister, Ruth (Tom) Splan preceded him in death. Ray was a farmer, held a ServiceMaster franchise in Ohio, and founded the Yellow Ribbon Striping Service. They moved to Albuquerque in 1980 for Betty��?�s health, and he continued to stripe parking lots until 1996, when they moved to La Vida Llena. Never one to sit idle, he caned chairs until March, 2012. The Rio Grande Presbyterian Church was Ray��?�s spiritual home, and he was active in LVL activities and Toastmasters International. He donated 10 gallons of blood through the Red Cross. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 11, at 11:00 A.M. at the Rio Grande Presbyterian Church, 600 Coors Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87121, with Rev. Linda Roberts-Baca officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Rio Grande Presbyterian Church or to the La Vida Llena Foundation, 10501 Lagrima de Oro Rd. NE, Albuquerque NM 87111.
