Raymond L. Senn

Senn, Raymond L. Age 92, passed away peacefully Friday, March 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago, IL on November 8, 1920, to Samuel L. and Sophia (Silverstein) Senesky. Ray served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lt. in 1946. He served in the US Army Reserves and retired in 1980 as a Lt. Colonel. He attended New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM and graduated in 1950 with a BA in Mining Engineering. He worked as a mining engineer and land surveyor and was in the first group of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors to be registered in the State of New Mexico. Over his long career of civil service, Ray was a city engineer and city clerk for the City of Socorro and land surveyor for the County of Socorro. He was a private pilot and loved old cars. Among his many talents was singing and playing the violin. At one time he was the co-owner of the Palomino Motel in Socorro along with his dear friend and partner, Joe Gallagher. Ray loved to play golf and most importantly he treasured spending time with his family. Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Sylvia Herschenson and Marian Fellion. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Frances (Eppele) Senn; His six children: Stephen T. Senn and wife, Shirley, Cynthia E. Senn, Samuel J. Senn and wife, Jane, Randolph B. Senn and wife, Prescilla, David M. Senn and wife, Kerry, and Russell S. Senn; grandchildren: Rachel Trujillo, Victoria Trujillo, Matthew T. Senn, Anne C. Senn, Raymond S. Senn, Christopher M. Senn, Amanda J. Senn, Bryan A. Senn, and Jennifer Senn; great-grandchildren: Audrey Griego, Love Prema Trujillo-Murphy, and Xavier Senn-DeCottle. A Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2012 at 11:15 am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.A Memorial celebrating Ray's life will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Socorro National Guard Armory.
