Raymond N. Rivera

RIVERA-Raymond N., age 64 of Albuquerque, passed away on May 18, 2011. Born August 30, 1946 in Auburn, California, the family later moved to Ogden, Utah, and 1958 they settled in Sacramento, CA where he graduated from Grant Union High School in 1964. Raymond, a Vietnam Veteran served in the U.S. Navy, SK2. He was a logger in Southeastern Alaska in the early 1970’s, and later owned his own landscape business in Sacramento, until he discovered reflexology in 1991, which complimented his true passion for helping others. Raymond moved to Albuquerque in 1997 where he continued to work as a master reflexologist. He was known for his great sense of humor, storytelling abilities, and a generous heart he was everyone’s favorite. Raymond had a beautiful singing voice, loved Mariachi music, and enjoyed going to the movies. He met with his buddies every morning for coffee at Dunkin Donuts. Raymond will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Julia Rivera, and brothers Phillip and David. Raymond is survived by his son Joseph; brothers Joe of Albuquerque, Frank (Maxine) of Amarillo, Texas, Rudy of Sacramento, CA, and Roy of Las Vegas, Nevada; and sisters: Hope Rivera (Sonny) of Albuquerque, and Mary Hernandez (Joe), Julie Jimenez, Lynda Rivera, and Corina Rivera who all reside in Sacramento, California; numerous nephews and nieces, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. The light of his life was his granddaughter Tina Blaskey (Jimmy) of Oak Grove, Missouri. Cremation has taken place. Raymond’s remains will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at The Santa Fe National Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. A celebration of life will take place following interment from 2:00- 6:00 pm at 1851 Calle Los Vecinos NW, Albuquerque 87107. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Roadrunner Food Bank, 5840 Office Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109, in memory of Ray Rivera.
