Valdez, Raymond G. Raymond G. Valdez was born in Cebolla, New Mexico and passed away at the Veterans Hospital on November 6, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Grace Valdez; and by two younger brothers. Raymond graduated from Tierra Amarilla High School in 1941 where he was a member of the boxing team and played the trumpet in the high school band. In November of 1942 he was drafted into the army. He spent three years in the European Theatre in World War II where he served under General Patton's third army where he preformed his duties as a bugler, and in the medical corps. He was proud to serve his county. He returned home in 1945, and after a few months in a VA hospital he enrolled at Fort Lewis Junior College in Colorado. After graduation he returned to Albuquerque. He then attended barber school in Denver. Returning to Albuquerque, he opened his barber shop and operated his shop for fifty seven years until he took ill in May of 2012. Raymond was a life time member of the American Legion, The VFW and the Catholic Church. He is survived by his three brothers, Joe and wife Ruby, George and wife Elodia, Tino and wife Margaret; two sisters, Rosie Lemaster, Lisa Bonney and husband Charles; and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family of Raymond wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the Veterans Hospital and to the staff and caregivers for the excellent care and kindness given to our beloved Raymond and his family members. Raymond's life celebration will begin with a Rosary at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 8:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 9:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
