Ret. TSGT. Donald Charles Gay

May 10, 1946 — January 6, 2020

In Loving Memory of Donald Charles Gay

Don Gay was born on May 10, 1946 in Buffalo, New York.  At the age of 73, January 6, 2020, he graduated into the presence of Jesus his Savior.  He gained victory over the battle with his longtime illness with his family by his side in his home.

He was the embodiment of a servant to all throughout his life.  He demonstrated his servants’ heart through helping others as a true “jack of all trades”:  a mechanic, a carpenter and a handy man of all sorts.  Don was a retired 20 year Air Force Veteran who served in the Vietnam War.  He took his trade of being a mechanic and continued to serve his country as a Civil Servant maintaining helicopters at Kirtland Air Force Base.  It was stated by his employer “If Don Gay can’t fix it, then it can’t be fixed”.

He continued his talent of serving as an active member and deacon of his home church.  Don was known for having an ear to listen and a heart that cared, a true servant of the Lord, whom he loved very much.  He very much enjoyed recording Sunday Sermons for those who were not able to make it to service.

He was a faithful and loving husband to his wife, Alice who will say he was the “biggest little man in the world”, a kind, caring, and wonderful father to his children: Angie and husband Daryn Rippie, Diana and husband Chris Sisneros, Tim and wife Cori Gay, and Robin and her husband Daniel Cummings; a gracious brother to his siblings Glenn King and Jean Eastwood; a loving grandfather to his grandchildren Holly Rippie, Justyn Rippie, Cece Sisneros, David Sisneros, Rachael Sisneros, Paul Sisneros, Michael Sisneros, Bekah Sisneros, Ethan Sisneros, Janessa Gay, Ansylene Gay, Elijah Cummings, Joshua Cummings, Zeke Cummings, Lydia Cummings and Great Grandson, Oliver Sisneros.  He will be deeply missed by his family but not more than he was loved.

Visitation/Viewing will be held at Daniels Funeral Home on Southern in Rio Rancho on Wed, Jan 15th 4pm-6pm.  His celebration of life will be held at Mesa Baptist Church in Rio Rancho NM on Thursday, Jan 16th at 10am.  His burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full honors at 2:15pm.

Good Job, good and faithful servant!!  Good Job!
