Marsic, Retired Major Mary Amelia Age 105, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2012 in Rio Rancho, NM. She was born on May 12, 1907, in New Castle, PA to Mary and Joseph Marsic. Mary is survived by many friends and members of the Community at Prayer. Mary struggled early on in her life but put herself through school and became a certified Registered Nurse anesthetist. She answered the call in 1942 and entered the army. She served in World War II campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Mary retired from the army in 1958 and continued working as a nurse anesthetist until her retirement many years later. All her life, Mary was a kind and giving person who was always ready to help the disadvantaged. She was a member of the sewing group at Risen Savior Church where she sewed dresses for the less fortunate children. She baked bread to sell and gave the money to the poor. She truly lived simply so that others could simply live. Before she started to lose her sight, Mary's favorite pastime was counted cross stitch. She did some beautiful pieces of which she was quite proud. Her last major picture was completed in June of 2011, when Mary was 104 years young. She will be greatly missed by all her friends, especially by Sue and Father Paul. A Graveside Service will be held at 9:00 am, Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in the Rose Garden at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Daniels Family Funeral Services
