He was born in Valdez, New Mexico to J.D. Montoya and Canuta Garcia and was a resident of Taos, ultimately retiring in Rio Rancho, NM. Ray was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, who served his country during World War II, and received four medals during his service. He was self-employed and the owner of the Montoya TV/Music business in Taos.
Ray loved music and was an active musician and guitar player in his early years of life. Anyone that was touched by Ray knows how much he loved ice cream, music, and tinkering in his shop.
We never had to watch the weather forecast; he would call his family to update us. Ray was loved by many and will be missed deeply.
