Richard Dick"" Eakes

EAKES - Richard "Dick" Eakes, 75, passed away early Saturday morning on February 6 , 2010. Richard Graham Eakes was born in Buffalo, NY on August 29, 1934 to Graham Otis and Mabel Caroline Eakes. A longtime resident of Albuquerque since 1959, he started his career as a draftsman with ACF industries. A career move took him to Sandia National Laboratories from which he later retired. Richard spent many of his retirement days on the San Juan River as an avid fly fisherman. He tied many flies that he enjoyed making from his hunting adventures. He had a great love of photography ad was often seen with a camera around his neck capturing his love of the great outdoors. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by sister, Sally Prendergast of Buffalo, NY; brother, Alan Eakes and wife Linda of Charlotte, NC.; his 3 children, Gregory Eakes, and wife Nori of Bakersfield, CA; Guy Eakes of Albuquerque, NM; Helen Gates, and husband Randy of Albuquerque, NM; 8 grand children, 1 great grandson, many nieces, nephews and friends.
