Richard R. Ferrand

January 10, 1911 — September 24, 2012

Ferrand, Richard On September 24, 2012, a Golden Heart stopped beating, the Angels came to take our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard Raymond Ferrand, son, of Clarence W. and Elise Rose Kiefer Ferrand, who passed away peacefully at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents; brothers, Herbert and Theodore; sister, Christine; great-grandson, James. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Fritz and her partner Paul Allen; grandchildren, Elisabeth, Erik, and Spencer; great-granddaughters, Mariah and Erin; several nieces and nephews. Richard was born in Gardenville, NY on January 10, 1911 and was proud to have achieved the milestone of 100 years young, having celebrated his 100th birthday on January 10, 2011. He attended Buffalo Normal School where he received a teaching certificate at the age of 19. He later received his BS in education from Buffalo State Teachers College and his MA in educational administration from Albany State College. He had a long, varied, and satisfying career in education, both teaching and administrating. He was past president of Rotary, a past master in the MASMS, a past president of NM Senior Golf Association, and a life member of both Mason's and the Shriner's. During his retirement he and Dorothy enjoyed playing golf, playing bridge, bowling and traveling. He was a member of the Albuquerque Lesser Symphony (ALSO) where he played first violin for several years. Dick will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering will be held at Chamisa Hills Country Club at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Tee Program of the PGA or the Shriner's Crippled Children's Fund. God Bless and be with Richard on his journey. He was beloved on this earth. Grateful thanks are extended to the fantastic staff of Vista Care Hospice, including Desiree, Megan, Megan W., Alice and Ingrid, along with Dr. Lovette, Dr. Grady and Dr. Sansonetti. God needed a special Angel, one loving, good and kind. And so He chose our Father, and left us all behind. The tears we shed were many, our hearts were filled with pain, but our loss upon this earth was surely Heaven's again. And though his heart no longer beats, his memory lives within. Time never can erase the love for our Father and Best Friend. Daniels Family Funeral Services
