Richard "Ty" Gomez

Gomez, Richard Tyrone Age 69, died Friday June 26, 2013 at the Albuquerque VA hospital after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret and father, Raymond Gomez. Richard is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife, Jean of 42 years; sons, Craig (Lori); 4 grandchildren, of Ixonia, WI, Tim (fianc�e, Jen) of Denver, CO; stepmother, Celedonia Gomez of Albuquerque; brothers, Eddie (Teri) of Cornville, AZ, Eugene of Albuquerque; sister, Cecelia (Ramon) Baca of Tome, NM. Richard was an accountant having received his Bachelor of Science degree in managerial accounting from Carroll College, Waukesha, WI. After many years working as an accountant he completed his college education hours for high school with a math and business endorsement and taught at Rio Rancho High School for 6 years before retirement in 2007. He was a veteran having served 3 tours of duty in the U S Navy during the Vietnam War. Of this time 27 months was in combat. He was a member of the American Legion Post #118 in Rio Rancho, a life member of the VFW Post #1890, the Rio Rancho Moose Lodge #2447, and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Rio Rancho, NM. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Road Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM (located on the grounds of Vista Verde Memorial Park. The Funeral will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, August 2, 2013, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM.
