Richard J. Griego

Griego, Richard J. Age 37, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home in Polvadera, NM. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on December 28, 1976, to Richard S. and Lucy Santillanes Griego. Richard was a man with a big heart and was always willing to help out anyone in need. He was strong in his faith and loved his family. Richard enjoyed cooking and had a green thumb when it came to planting. He drove a truck across the country and even owned his own trucking company for a few years. Richard was an avid motorcycle rider and loved riding his Harley and loved his "kids" (his dogs) Dober Dog, Peppers and Rocko. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Fava Griego; his maternal grandparents, Justiniano and Virgie Santillanes; and his uncle, Stephen T. Santillanes. Richard is survived by his parents Richard and Lucy Griego, his sister, Valerie M. Griego; his brother, Stephen T. Griego; his aunts and uncles, Tina Santillanes, Joey and Cheryl Griego, and Jerry and Patricia Griego; his nephews, Elijah Griego and Justyn Santillanes; and his niece, Adrianna Griego. Visitation will take place Friday, June 6, 2014 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Daniels Family Funeral Services, 309 Garfield, Socorro. Rosary to be recited on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 7:00 pm at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will take place at the Lemitar Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Wes Mauldin, Tony Lucero, Carlos Savedra, Joe Reichenbach, Michael Morris and Ed Grund. Honorary pallbearers are Maurice Andrew, Roy Armijo, Jerry Griego, Aron Jaquez, Gilbert Romero, Vicente Hernandez, Ken Chavez, Lawrence Romero, and Shane Durkin.
